That's the very fraught design I mentioned, which you, yourself mentioned, identifying trusted authorities on what is fact, what isn't, and what is maybe and why. We used to have and generally trust our authorities in context.

It was once shameful to misinform and particularly to disinform back before reality and shame and critical thinking got blown up by those who are indifferent if not hostile to them. Our misinformation problem is in essence a values problem and needs to be treated as such.

If there is something you believe is misinformation let the "public square" decide.

The sunlight is not supposed to be a thousand flowers blooming half-baked opinions and made up stuff. The sunlight is supposed to be on the input to the opinions of people qualified to analyze them and argue them objectively so the public can make good choices.
