Well yeah. The entire south became a lot more popular with air conditioning. My wife's Grandparents
retired to Daytona Beach very soon after window units became popular and affordable. Back in the
late 50's.
I grew up in northern Missouri with no air conditioning, and it was quite hot in July and August.
However, there's usually a breeze over the great plains that makes it a little easier to take.
(Also usually less humid)
