I was an election judge in a conservative precinct but within a liberal, uber-Democrat state that doesn't allow requests for voter I.D. at the polls. Many voters insisted on showing us theirs anyway, and were incredulous when we told them, "No need, put it away."
Dave Rubin tells a story like that. 2020 election, he lived in LA. Went to vote and offered his ID. “no, no,” they told him. “We don’t need to see your ID. He’s in FL now, which requires ID as does my state, Montana.

Back in the ‘80s I worked for DOJ in DC. Our attorneys went various places including Chicago. The US Attorney in Chicago sent AUSAs out on Election Day to keep an eye on polling places. One AUSA was looking over the list of who’d voted. Saw her uncles name. She said, “I see Joe Kowalczk was in to vote. How’s he doing.” Poll worker said “great!” That’s interesting” she says. ”He’s been dead five years.”

To the best of my knowledge, nothing came of it.
