Former 3Com Veterans Launch Company to Offer Unique Solutions to Network Managers
BROOKLINE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 1998--Net Mgmt Solutions Inc. announces its launch today, by founders Dave Zeltserman and Gerard Puoplo, both formerly of 3Com Corporation. The focus of the business is to help companies better meet their network management needs by combining existing off-the-shelf network management tools with custom built tools.
Zeltserman and Puoplo have written a book, to be published by Prentice Hall in April, entitled ''Building Network Management Tools with Tcl/Tk''. The book serves as a springboard for their new venture.
Net Mgmt Solutions provides custom tool development to network managers, and can also provide training to enable network managers and system engineers who are not programmers to develop their own tools and reports. This is done using TickleMan, a product developed by SNMP Research, which provides Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) extensions to Tcl. Under a Reseller's Agreement with SNMP Research, Net Mgmt Solutions will offer TickleMan/Lite bundled with a suite of sample applications. The company also plans to release Net Mgmt Solutions Toolchest in May. The Toolchest will consist of a set of powerful diagnostic and configuration tools.
While working at 3Com, it became apparent to Zeltserman and Puoplo that companies with successful network management were those that combined custom built tools with off-the-shelf products. Net Mgmt Solutions can help network administrators quickly engineer customized solutions that meet their budget and operational requirements.
Mr. Zeltserman has over ten years experience developing network management products. While at 3Com, he came up with the initial concept for 3Com's successful StatusWatch product, and developed the first four releases. Mr. Puoplo has twenty years experience in the area of network management, serving in a variety of consulting and product management roles. |
