The tears were flowing down my face after the Met game. They came as far as they could. I thought they had what it took to beat the Yankees, but, yes, the Dodgers have a stacked line up.
Stearns did a great job assembling the team. Platoon players such as Taylor, Bader, Winker, Iglesias made immense contributions. Stearns is a great evaluator of talent and team chemistry.
Mets needed Manea to deliver a strong game to win. Staens tried to improve the bullpen by the trade deadline, but failed to do a good enough job. Buto has a bright future with the Mets, but was a bust in the playoffs, a long with Maton. Diaz and Stanek were good. The Japanese pitcher was a disaster. He can only pitch every six days or he will run into elbow/shoulder problems.
I don't see Stearns bringing back Alonso. Move Vientos to First Base, Mauricio plays third and Acuna second. Mcneil should be traded. He does not fit in anymore. Iglesias is a star reserve. Mets need another outfielder or two. Taylor and Bader are part-time players, great defense. Marte is injury prone and so is Nimmo.
Stearns did a great job signing Manea and Severino. The bullpen needs to be revamped and another starter or two needs to signed. Maybe Buto becomes a starter.
I don't watch the Jets anymore. They are an inept clown show. Team needs to clean house and start over again. I will not watch the Jets next year if Roger's is resigned.
In a three or 5 game series, the team with the lesser talent can win, which the Mets did. In a 7 game series, that becomes much harder to do.
Cohen is going to spend money this off-season and he has the right head of baseball operations to evaluate talent.
I beg you Cohen and Stearns do NOT resign Alonso. Let him walk. |
