Rocky,

>A great many people who order a Dell care very little about the Zip, and instead are more concerned with little things like how fast the CPU is, how big the hard drive is, and if it comes with a 3D graphics card, etc.

There are a host of different options on computers that interest a great many different people. I would guess most people, upon setting up their Dell, look at the Zip slot and ask, "What is that?"

And once they find out, couldn't care less<<

Possibly some people, but certainly not the vast majority. Dell, Micron and Gateway don't install Zip drives for customers because they are just really swell guys.

Zip drives are installed because the customer asks for them. Dell, Micron and Gateway sell customized computers. If you don't want, don't care, or don't know what a Zip drive is, you don't get it.

Someone is asking for them. It's called demand.

Philip
