It looks like the death toll from the floods in BC is up to 4.

I wonder if any of you have noticed something similar with the weather forecasts where you are to what I have noticed here in BC. For the last, maybe five years, the forecasters consistently the underestimate wind speed and rain- and snowfall amounts when extreme weather events come along. For this latest atmospheric river, they got the wind speeds mostly correct, but the rainfall was up to double the predicted amount or worse, e.g. in Coquitlam east of Vancouver they were predicted to get under 100mm over 48 hours but got 256mm. This has been happening more and more frequently.

I plan to contact a few local meteorologists and ask them about this, but I am also interested whether any of you have noticed the same phenomenon.
