Bill,
If you like government programs and controls, and interventionist foreign policy, you're more likely to be a Democrat. If you mistrust government, value more freedom and are anti-war, you're a Republican. Didn't it used to be the opposite?
It's not that simple, Bill.

You say the Republicans value freedom, but look at how important the issue of abortion is these days, for example:

Abortion passes inflation as top election concern for women under 30, survey finds (PBS)

You say the Republicans mistrust government, but one look at Trump's authoritarianism says everything that I need to know about how Republicans have abandoned their small government ideals. "Dicktator for a day." "Cancel the Constitution." "Use the military against political opponents." "Hitler did some things right."

Interventionist foreign policy? Didn't the Republicans used to be all about this before Trump came in with his isolationism?

Don't tell me that tariffs are not by their very nature interventionist. If anything, the Democrats are looking more like the champions of free trade.

Like I said, Bill, things are changing. It's no longer about big government vs. small government. Now it's all about who gets to control big government.
