Chanel Takes 25% Stake in MB&F watchesbysjx.com Over the past decade many independent watch brands have sold stakes to outside investors whether to private equity and hedge fund types, or other luxury brand names like above. It often makes sense for those involved, imo, and you can argue those independent brands are a victim of their own success if you take an extreme purist view with disdain. But unsure how that's reasonable save for an atelier with no more than a few watchmakers that is committed to never grow. It's not my investment funds owning pieces of any brands so I'll trust the market to sort this out long term. My goal is to buy the timepieces I love as cheaply as possible and especially in a timely manner if from a newer upstart independent. Have more to say about trends in watches and distribution channels later.
