Anybody listen to the Deutche Morgan Grenfell chief strategist on CNBC just now? Mostly talked about Asia, Japan in particular, saying that the US markets have greatly underestimated the impact, that Japan is far from solving its own problems, that the Japanese Gov't was supporting their stock market this week to look stronger going into the G7 mtg. For the US stock market, more importantly, he was taking a classically defensive posture, predicting a half point cut from the Fed and long rates down near 5.0%, and suggesting a focus on defensive stocks like utilities and financials (due to declining rates), and health care (due to economic/Asia insensitivity). He stopped short of saying the "R" word, but he's certainly preparing his portfolio for a serious slowdown.

Just thought ya'll might find it interesting, especially coming from a Street strategist rather than one of us bears.
