Northam, think about what the 9th and 10th amendments are meant for. They are not meant to give dictatorial powers to the states.

In fact, it's the exact opposite. They are meant to protect any rights that citizens have but are not explicitly stated in the Constitution.

In other words, a woman has the right to do whatever she wants to her own body. Just because the Constitution doesn't explicitly call that out doesn't mean the states have the power to control it.

Now when it comes to the question of whether an unborn child is a life or not, the Constitution remains silent.

But you'd have a hard time arguing that this was what our Founding Fathers always intended, that the definition of a life should change from state to state.

That's why I have a problem with "abortion should be left to the states." It is indefensible from a moral perspective, and it is a complete cop-out from a legal perspective.

In other words, it's a chickenshit argument. Anyone who parrots that argument is guilty of lazy logic.
