Betty, >>>I think the consumer PC market could very well be the driver of the next chip cycle. <<<

I agree to a certain extent. I believe there will be a certain amount of segmentation but will find it difficult to predict which segment will grow fastest and when.

I hope Intel does not screw up this segmentation concept and that it is only a marketing strategy rather than a change in architecture.

I am comfortable with the current concept of scaleability. What I mean by this is that currently, I think I'm buying the Micro Processor powerful enough only for what I need. If I want to do more sophisticated computing, I will only need to upgrade my Micro Processor and nothing else changes.

If they segment the architecture, I hope it does not mean that If I use a computer for the home that it does not mean that it is not fully compatible with the more powerful computer I use at work or with the server that that computer is connected to or with the computer my kids use to play games with.

But, I basically agree that enlarging the entry level market will inevitably lead to next generation chips that has to be even more powerful and do more than what was intended at the entry level.
