To me, at this point, after two commercial failures of SPD (SPDi + Hitachi), with Gauzy now 8 years in and SPD kind of holding its own in the super luxury highly price insensitive end of the auto market, while making essentially no inroads elsewhere even with the DGA in Arch, either they can get the cost down a la the Hyundai or this will be another commercial limp along kind of product until something better comes along to replace SPD.
Meaning If it can go into the Hyundai GN7 PHEV even at the highest trim, we will quickly see other adoption as the incorporation of SPD at the crazy high end(outside of the VW group and Lambo) indicates it's a better product than PDLC but not better enough for the cost difference... while going into a hyundai means the cost benefit is working. Gauzy said they had 4 this year with signed contracts, but I'm not clear it's not caddy, ferrari, mclaren and Koenisburg ?/s.
Cost is the issue rather than blue, as the blue apparently is not a deal killer at the high end and it looks as good almost as I always thought; youtu.be
Hyundai invested. They showed SPD on their investor slide. But ... |
