It's a smart move by Musk, looking out for his company's best interests.

If he'd said nothing, then the CCP were to take over Taiwan and compromise SpacEx suppliers, the same people would blame Musk for not acting.

It's a sensitive subject that nobody wants to talk about -- except people who aren't afraid of bringing up potentially unpopular things that need to be addressed.
