Exxon CEO Darren Woods says Trump won’t be able to ‘unleash’ new oil production - marketwatch.com

US oil production has already climbed to record highs under President Joe Biden

Donald Trump campaigned on a platform to significantly ramp up U.S. oil production and bring down the cost of energy, but the head of America's largest energy company is extremely doubtful he can make good on that promise.

The Exxon CEO gave these remarks in an interview with Semafor at the opening of COP29, the international summit on climate change, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
‘I don’t think U.S. oil and gas production is constrained, so I don’t know that there’s an opportunity to unleash a lot of production in the near term.

Most operators in the U.S. have already optimized their production today.

— Exxon Mobil CEO Darren Woods
U.S. field production of crude oil hit a record high of 13.5 million barrels per day for the week that ended Oct. 18, according to the Energy Information Administration.
