I look at Vector Vest often too, but although Zacks has shortcomings, I think Vector Vest is way off.
They seem to play follow the crowd. Recommending it after it's already on a big run, and downgraded it after it turns around and is falling. Slow on switch.
I think Zacks still has a "5" on ZOLT because their computer keys off other analysts coverage. If a stock isn't followed much, they don't get an earnings update, and the sell recommendation isn't revised. I'm not sure, but I think this is what happened with ZOLT. My failure to reinvest was a combination of factors. An unexpected drop in another investment would not allow me to take profits and invest in ZOLT when the price was favorable ($30 or less). That situation, COMBINED with Zacks 5, kept me from getting in. I wish you the best of luck, and I'm hanging around looking for an opportunity. |
