FWIW

Prices to resellers indicate strong demand for Pentium chips going into older motherboards as upgrades. This can't be hurting Intel's ability to maintain margins on their older designs where they would have extremely good yield. On the other hand I just bought a pII 233 for $319. I wound up spending $ 1500 to put together a pII 233 with 64 mb SDRAM, 5 gig Western Digital HD, 56k modem, 32x cd-rom, agp 8meg 3d video, with 17" monitor with 2 usb ports on the motherboard. How can you beat that?
