After post on Gauzy board I watched this video
I have watched many videos of spd roofs in cars and also pdlc roofs, some over many multiple times. SPD on clear (roof is on clear in this video) is a sharper in showing image and line definitions than pdlc and has a slightly different hue on clear. it looks better on clear than pdlc, less haze. I have also seen pdlc roof and spd on clear in person but seeing them on video applies more as this is a video.
If this is smartglass which it appears to be it looks much more like spd than pdlc to me I can say fairly confidently...Also, other roofs have fancy patterns, lights, projections in concepts as this model has shown in concept and then they turn out to be smartglass , when released, in it's form that has been known, on or off settings and no stars, images projected...This video would be a case of the stars on glass in concept dropped and the typical smartglass roof in car which is normal procedure.
As far as clouds being able to be seen with pdlc roof on clear, they can be seen, it is just less sharp than spd on clear.
This video is very encouraging to me as far as Merc. Benz.
SPD has a slight slight dark violet/grey hue on clear, barely can be seen (and can be seen at certain times and lighting conditions in videos) but pdlc does not have that, pdlc has more of a milk, frost haze on clear. A way of telling what a roof is on clear as well as sharper images on clear for spd over pdlc
Merc benz and gauzy spd both in Stuttgart, maybe that was for a reason.
