Didn't we hear something about Qualcomm and AVX a while back? There is also AMX to be considered.

opensource.microsoft.com

Lots of speculation in the field of vector and matrix extensions. This headline points to AVX now being available for Elite X except, it's via PRISM. As most here would know that's not quite the same as implemented on chip.

It's also possible rumours like that floated on wccftech are sourced via one of the parties to intimidate the other party. At times, wccftech articles do appear to come with incredible headlines. Source pointing to a source pointing to yet another unnamed source.

All that's really confirmed here is that the issue of vector and matrix extensions is important. Until truly announced specifically what's unknown remains unknown and that's where we are at today.

ps It may also be that Qualcomm has included SSE components in an early tape out in anticipation of signing a new ALA. It's only when goods are sold that licencing comes into practice. Isn't SSE documentation found within the public domain?
