I played Buccaneer Gold and agree it's a pretty good game. Unfortunately I never got to see the Octopus or swinging pirate :>( More and more machines are going with the 'game-within-a-game' progressive concept I first saw in Fort Knox. Bucanneer Gold has the same thing (collecting knives), as does Lady of Fortune (matching letters around the crystal ball). The newer IGT slots with the LCD panels have this concept also, as do some CDS games like Safe-Buster. This ploy encourages longer sessions, as you are making 'progress' toward a goal. It has also created opportunities for a poor man's arbitrage :>)
