Of course you and SI Ron are right. The point is we want to give our children a bit of hope to make the future world a better place to live in and not tell them your life means nothing so live for yourself, do drugs, don't worry about laws and then die. The fact the Marcus Aurelius is still remembered 2000 years later kind of disproves his statement. Sure, 99% of people won't be do anything of note, but a few here and there will.
