Inode,
Engage to win, which will be a very bloody and high risk fight; or negotiate a settlement that ends the war in exchange for Ukraine giving something up, and for us (probably NATO) to make a permanent commitment to protecting a new border which gives Russia something for its time.
a) RuZZia would never be satisfied with the current frontlines becoming the "new border." In fact, PooTin still wants all of Ukraine, because he believes the existence of a democratic Ukraine threatens the very existence of RuZZia.

b) Convincing Europe to enforce this "new border" would be quite a miracle if Trump were to pull this off. (In other words, he won't.)

c) Giving RuZZia "something for its time" is quite laughable no matter which side you're on. RuZZia sacrificed too much for just 20% of Ukraine, and rewarding anyone anything for pure naked conquest repeats the same mistakes of Neville Chamberlain.

Bottom line is that there is no way Trump can end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours. Best he can do is withdraw all aid to Ukraine, let RuZZia have its way, and force Europe to make tough defense decisions all on their own.

I'm sure you Trump supporters will cheer his move, but it will be the first promise that Trump breaks.
