I think our ruling elites of both parties long ago convinced themselves that Infinite Borrowing is a normal way of doing business - and enjoy helping themselves to additional astronomical amounts of debt every single year. It’s been going on for so long that worrying about it is no longer seen as proper in polite company. No one wants to bite the bullet.
