I've several hundred, Madharry. Mostly small $ involved with each. A few have become significant positions since I accumulated them - VISA, COST, GOOG, for example. Latest of what I might call an actual commitment in dollars is WPC, and I'm still looking to add if stock will fall.

Somewhat easy to track. Can check a daily high/low list for all stocks. Brokers' portfolios let me track and rank high/low price changes by $ or %. On Yahoo, I have my stocks sorted into different baskets - food, oil, oil service, clothing, housing, takeovers in play, autos, shipping, watchlist, etc. -- With that, in addition to getting a lot of garbage news/adverts, I can usually get the latest news about the stocks in the baskets.
