bob,

There probably is not a single assertion in your post which is correct.

Obviously, you seem to be ignoring Peter Lynch's advice to invest in what you know and understand.

I am looking at ETEC which makes photolith masks

No, they don't make masks. They sell equipment which is used to make masks to the companies that make masks.

... as an investment. Are they a CYMI customer...?

CYMI's 4 main customers have been listed several dozen times on this thread. ETEC has never been included in that list. Good reason, ETEC isn't a CYMI customer.

Also what does the e-beam mask do

The mask is used as a template to pattern the light on a wafer.
This is true whether the mask was created with an E-beam tool or something else.

...is this competition for CYMI?

No, they're synergistic. Without ETEC's mask making equipment (and more recently UTEK's), feature sizes below .25micron would be very difficult if not impossible to make.

Also, why isn't ETEC's business feeling the asian effects that CYMI claims will decrease earnings 10-15%?

Sets of Masks are required for every different chip being made. The more complex the chip, the more masks of more complexity that will be required, generally speaking. Mask volume is more related to wafer volume than fab expansion.

Why is ETEC's market cap $1.1 bill and CYMI's so much less?

I haven't looked at this stat lately. Based upon your prior assertions, I hesitate to assume that this one is correct. :-)

ETEC like CYMI claims to be the sole supplier of photlith masks.....

Wherever did you get the impression that either company has ever claimed to be a supplier, sole or otherwise of photolithography masks?

Anyone help me on this......?

I tried, but I suspect that the attempt wasn't too successful. ;-)
