Earnings are out on Tuesday, any latest on estimate after warning?
Unfortunately I don't have any pipeline to NN whispers. Of course I'm hoping the preannouncement was overly pessimistic and that anything from here on out will be a pleasant surprise.
A quick look at the MainStreetXpress ATM products show the following growth for the 36170:
Revs for Q4 '97 2.5X higher than Q4 '96, and 30% higher than Q3 '97. Of the 100 customers for the quarter, 17 were new.
Revs for Q1 '98 were 3X higher than Q1 '97, and 40% higher than Q4 '97. Of the 120 customers for the quarter, 12 were new.
Revs for Q2 '98 were 6X higher than Q2 '97 and 50% higher than Q1'98. Of the 80 customers for the quarter, 24 were new.
Preliminary estimates for Q3 '98 stated Revs for the 36170 would be 2X Q3 '97. Customers now total over 200 with 20 new added this quarter. Sequential numbers weren't given.
Based on sequential growth of 30%, 40%, and 50%, over the past 3 quarters, I would guess orders in this area will continue to be strong.
Granted, this is just one product, and the only one I've followed closely. The question remains how much robust ATM sales can offset falling TDM sales.
If other earnings reports are any indication, then the conference call will be far more critical than the earnings themselves.
Ascend is presenting Monday at the Robertson Stephens Conference in San Francisco, and should give another indication of where the WAN ATM market is headed.
I plan to attend and will report anything of note.
Later --
