Hi temco2:

I'm at Schwab, it is less expensive than Merrill, both in straight fees plus ML has its own separate fund fees if you diversify into them that will be less then the Schwab fund fees.

Not sure if I can help with diversification as I'm pretty much in equities although I'll be raising more cash into January.

At Schwab I park my cash in SNSXX, their Treasury MM.

Dividend stocks include:

PBR/A, GUKYF, PTALF in the oil space.
LUGDF & EDVMF in the gold mining space.

No bonds or intermediate to long term bond funds as I don't think the risk is priced into the space considering our national debt and deficit.

There are others on this thread who can steer you to some safer dividend paying stocks.
