David, I believe that the listed exchanges like NYSE are the auction markets that Greg Hakim referred to. In fact, the SEC blasted the NASDAQ in their recent regualtory action for precisely the same point made by Greg, i.e., the NASDAQ MM spread manipulation is an unfair practice that harms the general public.
