Buried beneath our feet lies an untapped power source—one that holds 50,000 times more energy than all the world’s oil and gas reserves combined. If we could tap into even a tiny fraction of this geothermal energy, it could power the world for millennia with clean energy on demand day and night and no matter the weather or the season. The only problem is that in most places on earth, geothermal power is locked away deep below the surface – too deep to drill, except in those lucky locations where underground reservoirs of steam and hot water exist close to the surface.

But new geothermal technologies could make this energy accessible almost anywhere. In this video we’re going to find out how exactly how these technologies are digging deeper and hotter and hoping to bring geothermal from niche to mainstream. And we'll take a look at leading goethermal startups Quaise, Fervo and Eavor to find out their progress and future plans.
