I don’t know how to characterize this week. Pretty good for many, astounding for a few. Both Biotech indices handily outpaced the NASDAQ Composite last week.
A few individual stocks had an excellent week, starting with ACRS who blew up +170%.

“On Monday, Aclaris Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACRS) entered into an exclusive license agreement with Biosion Inc for worldwide rights (excluding Greater China) to BSI-045B and BSI-502, a preclinical-stage, novel bispecific antibody directed against both TSLP and IL4R.
”In a completed Phase 2a, single-arm, proof-of-concept trial in the United States in 22 patients with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis, BSI-045B was observed to have a pharmacodynamic, safety, and efficacy profile.”

The other top stocks were a *little* less astounding, with weekly returns between 35% and 49%, for fifth to second. The impact of owning one of the high flyers will be amply demonstrated.
Contest portfolios a a group did OK, this week adding $2.4k on average, helping to keep our YTD group performance in the black (+7.2k). Twelve of the contestants made a profit for the week, while YTD seven portfolios are making money at this point.
The number two portfolio for the week was KATHLEEN, +$7.9k, a lot of which was thanks to their 10% stake in CRVS.
But on the top, both recently AND YTD was ALONER, which rang the gong THREE times, with positions in ACRS, CRVS, and CDTX from the top five stock performance list for the week, bringing in +$29k profit. This, plus a poor week for BULBAMAN (-$13k), pushed ALONER into the top YTD position, +$92k.
KATHLEEN also benefitted from their strong performance for the week jumping from tenth to seventh in the YTD list.
Another events to note was the purchase of GTHX for $7.15 / share, presenting TRACE I11, the sole investor from the contest, with a tidy +$47k.
Only another five weeks to go. It’s still a real contest.
