The catch-22 here is that PooTin may not want to end the war despite the extreme strain on RuZZian society.

I've seen that same assessment - however not the first coup in Russia.

If Trump ends up pulling a rabbit out of his hat, Rubio will be the guy behind the scenes.
Just like Kushner in the middle east, the King always gets the credit for picking the right people. That said I don't know that Rubio has the right skills/contacts to negotiate this himself, but I suspect they are getting a team together now and starting the process.

I don't know what to make of the call between Trump and Putin, widely reported, and then a Kremlin claim a few days later they never spoke. Serious weirdness.
