Dear Members,

We've had our heads down for an extremely long time working on a completely rewritten, mobile friendly and responsive Silicon Investor website. But this is not going to be ready very soon, still so much work to do.

In the meanwhile, we took some time to add some nifty updates to our current site today:

What's gone:
  • Facebook embeds. Facebook kept on changing and breaking their API and URL formats, and so our Facebook embed functionality stopped working quite time ago. Nobody was using it, nobody complained, so no loss there. Facebook's insistence on users being logged into their site to see the embedded content is an ill-conceived exclusionary "walled garden" policy, IMHO.

  • Vimeo support. We had experimental Vimeo support but never integrated it into the SI message editor. Usage is way down for Vimeo, they also made breaking changes to their API, and so supporting it further was deemed not worthwhile.

What's new:
  • SoundCloud track and Bluesky post embeds.

  • New editor button graphics. Hover your mouse, or better yet, try out each button to see what it actually does.

  • A single "embed rich content" button for all supported providers, instead of individual buttons. The provider is now auto detected from the URL.

Please Enjoy!

Regards,

@Dima
