Dear John,
Out of the mouths of babes often comes---pablum. I am a babe at this. However, I wonder if it is possible, based on what Joe Guy had to say, to just change the index to a new one? In other words invent a new year-naming system. Call the millenium Computer year 1 or some such.
Please be gentle when you tell me how silly this idea is.
