Dexx: Some ideas?
Andrew: I think this would simply be "an electronic local call" and the phone line would be "busy" only for the duration, just like any other call you made. Call waiting does seem to be an annoyance my brother has while on the computer, though.
Ever since I got into the Internet, (which hasn't been long), I thought how useful it could be for shoppers looking for good deals as they "planned their attack" on shopping day. Of course, this is all local stuff, so TELI solves that by being off the Internet?!
Three questions (I apologize for not reading many posts yet)
Do they use HTML programming anyway?
Do they hold the patent on the "box" the shoppers are using?
Also, might they be considering alliances with "Internet server companies" to blend themselves into the Internet in the future so us "bigger shots" (shoppers with computers) can enjoy this local feature without having to install an extra machine in their homes. (I'm thinking about "UVEW", formerly "CRTM", or even "YAHOO" for that matter.
TELI's method of operation duplicated around the country could expand it's exposure to all those having Internet access while keeping their present niche of shoppers (who don't enjoy Internet service) intact.
TELI could concentrate on keeping their yellow pages current and expand the circulation greatly, while the advertisers continued to enjoy being "non computer-literate" and (something like) YAHOO could "dice up" some programming to accommodate TELI's contribution..
In finding the companies wanting to advertise locally and continually managing their changes as usual, (only this time on as well as off the Internet); TELI is in a possible position to accomplish what I have been thinking of as: "a very good service for the Internet to provide." I hope TELI's people are smart!! I think they are for what they have started. If so, Their future competition could become their friends very soon. (Things might be bigger than they seem.)
Does anybody think this is the way it might go? (just a scenario!) If so, I expect TELI will be hiring lots of people to search out potential advertisers in the more important local areas soon. They may also want to "keep mum" if asked about this at the time. But it sure wouldn't hurt for politely asking, would it, Dexx?
Is there a way to read between the lines on this one? (and maybe soon, I'll be wishing I had some money.)<g> Still plenty of time. But getting interesting.
Could be really good find, Dexx! But everybody remember, this is only my "Pipe Dreaming"!!! That we are the ones "who hurt ourselves" when the lesser reality hits.
