Tenchu's Thoughts - Trump and the UnitedHealthcare CEO

Angry People Everywhere

Social media is almost unanimous in celebrating the assassination of the UNH CEO.

I may be in the minority, but that really disturbs me.

If people are pissed off that their health insurance premiums are skyrocketing, fine.

If people are pissed off at UNH denying their insurance claims, OK that's fair as well.

But to wish for the same fate on this CEO as some mass murderer, rapist, or grand larceny mastermind is mind-boggling to me.

Trump's Concept of a Plan?

OK, but I get it. People are super-pissed about the current state of health care in America.

So ... why did we elect Trump again?

After all, if people are pissed off about the price of eggs, imagine how even more pissed off people are over the ever-rising costs of health care.

But Trump infamously said that he doesn't have a plan for replacing the current status quo, which is ObamaCare. Instead, he has a "concept of a plan."

And that, apparently, was enough for people to take a chance on him.

To be sure, Brandon didn't do anything to reduce health care costs. Maybe he reduced the price of certain prescription medications offered up by Medicare or Medicaid, but that's about it.

He sure didn't prevent HMOs like UnitedHealth from screwing over their own customers and enriching their CEO in the process.

So when an assassin shot the CEO in cold blood, people weren't shocked or horrified. Instead, they cheered.

Time to Put Up or Shut Up

So now Trump is president-elect, and he promises to lower costs for everyone.

Not just the price of eggs, mind you, but also health care costs.

How does he plan on doing that? By letting RFQ Jr. loose on our health agencies?

By having Ramaswamy and the Muskperger demolish large parts of the federal government?

The truth is that Trump doesn't know. He can't repeal ObamaCare, as he proved during his first term when he had all three branches of the federal government on his side.

Nor can he force UnitedHealthcare to reduce their coverage denial rates, because UNH will simply respond by raising premiums on everyone. (UNH's profit margin is around 6%, which is a bit high from my POV but definitely a LOT lower than most people believe.)

The Silence is Deafening

I think this is why Trump is saying nothing about this heinous crime.

People are pissed off about the current state of health care in America, and there is no one better to tap into the public's anger than Trump himself.

Yet he is staying silent on this issue.

Because the truth is that he doesn't give a Brandon about this. He now has power, and he now can ignore the public's mood as long as it doesn't affect him.

But that arrogance is going to bite him in his gigantic ass.

And when his second term is up, people will realize that Trump's "concept of a plan" didn't do jack in fixing health care in America.
