Ran into this - a very interesting article. A significant part of it is about the “Oreshniks” and their implications and political ramifications.

Since the Cold War period, the USSR / Russia focused their military strategic thinking on missiles - while the West counted more on manned aircraft. Over the following decades, new technologies made missiles faster and more powerful - while manned aircraft is now more vulnerable.
