This pussyfooting around the $300 or so Billion of foreign based Russian assets is ridiculous. Why freeze these assets versus just taking them? Russia isn’t “freezing” parts of Ukraine. It’s just taking them. Russia isn’t “freezing” Ukrainian infrastructure. It’s just destroying it. Freezing it means Putin can claim that he’ll eventually get these assets back. Kill that thought by simply taking possession and pumping as much of it as needed into a total Russian defeat in Ukraine. Nothing but a total defeat will stop future Russian aggression.
