You don't recall 5 million handsets because a plastic case is the wrong color or something. Or even if the clip snaps too easily. Recalls would be for safety reasons to protect customers who might suffer damage from manufacturing or design defects.

It would be a warranty problem if anything and replaced, like the defective Pentium chip which would much more likely cause safety problems - say you landed in a forest instead of on an airstrip because the computer bearings were wrong.

Sounds like total rot to me.

Meanwhile, Toyota is the one and good hunting BrianH: yes, that was what I half remembered = Nippon Denso. Qualcomm has so many joint venture, licensing and partnership links it is hard to keep up with half of them. The news release says it all. In a couple of years, high end cars will all have phones installed and three years after that, low end cars will all have them too. With navigation and Globalstar connection. Power supply won't be a problem in a car = Globalstar phones are power hungry at present. Phones will be like calculators and computers; you don't have one, you have a variety of them, some fixed, some portable, with various functions depending on what you are doing.

So, buy Qualcomm! $47. What a laugh. I have to become a trader. The volatility [over exuberance and then sheer funk] is amazing. Before you know it you'll have to pay $80 and you'll wonder why you believed the future wouldn't arrive because some Korean land speculators and borrowers got carried away with their dreams of wealth.
