The Explorer’s recent case size variations are troubling.

The Explorer should forever be 36 mm and steel only. The two-tone is godawful, fit only for used car salesmen.

Real improvements should only affect the movement or the bracelet.

Rolex’s aggressive marketing has essentially ruined the Explorer for me.

But the watch was born in a tawdry marketing episode, which Rolex actually acknowledged. Those were different days.

The notion that the Explorer was first on Everest is simply false, not that Rolex minds that time and ignorance have created the myth that it was.
