| | | Some things that I see that, are well, kinda sad. I live in a predominantly red area.
I work in the tax field. I have clients that have to deal with the IRS from time to time. The IRS has had budget cuts for over 10 years until Biden finally got some increases passed. I would hear from clients all the time that if a private firm operated like the IRS they would be out of business. Well, uh, yeah. If budgets were cut that much on a private firm, they could not do their jobs either. Sadly now that the orange man is back in office I strongly suspect the IRS budgets will be cut again. At some point, I am going to say the heck with it and retire or do something else myself. Hearing the client's bitch all the time and having to make excuses for the IRS is getting old. They will love it when they hear IRS budget cuts....but then when they need to deal with the IRS, it is how can they be so incompetent and take so long. Cannot have it both ways.
One of the saddest things I think Reagan ever uttered was his joke line about "I from the government and I am here to help." The people in government that I have worked with want to do well and do right. They are overworked and much underappreciated.
Another thing that cracks me up is that I still have clients that do not understand that the marketplace, or affordable care act, is Obamacare. They don't understand the tax credits they are getting for that insurance either. If all of that goes away in whole or in part I have a lot of clients that are going to be hurting. But you know what. You voted for it. Suck it up buttercup. You did not do your proper due diligence before placing your vote. It is really sad.
I have a long time high school friend. Maga nut job. He brought his tax stuff in this past March and we got to politics. Normally, I just nod a lot. With him I said what is your hot button issue? I knew his answer would be the economy. I then told him to do some research and look up economic markers for the last 60 years and if he would do that he would find that Democrats do better on economy than Republicans. I am certain he did not do that research and that he voted for the moron.
FAFO. We had the FA part of the equation, that was election day. Now Americans, and sadly the rest of the world are going into the FO phase of this. |
