there are aspects of this topic that really haven't changed that much and the views of abortion aren't real different in some ways.

There have been various thoughts over time and contemporaneously regarding the point at which the unborn are accorded consideration independent of the woman. Some have drawn a line at quickening or viability or birth. Historically, the sanctity of an embryo was not a factor until very recently AFAIK. There was a time when people didn't even know what that was.

Abortion has always been a moral question. It can also be a legal question. Not the same thing. I only argue the legal question. It's annoying when people conflate the two. Our law makes some allowance for matters of conscience as in conscientious objector where the law does not require persons to do things that violate their sincere conscience. No one nowadays would be forced into an abortion. Likewise no one should be forced into a birth at a minimum in cases that would violate their conscience.
