As the previous discussion suggested, the framework for these concepts as law and not mere tradition is well-established. You have it in your mind that unlimited abortion rights constitutes essential freedom. The point I've tried to make is that there are two sides to this story and for the time being any solution must involve an element of compromise. In this country, such compromise is reached with the 50 states choosing independently what the law should be for their state.

Then, if the public in CA wants no control over abortion that is their right. If Louisiana wants significant control they that is their right as well. Seems reasonable to think of that as a compromise solution.


This allows states to each have their own freedom. That is probably the best we can do.
