Re: Per RDRT's 10Q, they sold appx 22million heads/Qtr. Compare this with IBM's proud claim to 9million in the last 5 months, and you see they've captured about 25%/Qtr of RDRT sales- not to mean that RDRT has lost any sales though.

Actually I'm quite impressed by it. Even assuming your 25% is correct (it's based on assuming a flat number of heads per month), how many industries can you tick off where a come from zero vendor picks up 25% of a market leader's sales in a short period? If you were looking at static market positions, then your inference would be correct. If you look at it as a dynamic position where IBM has grown to that position just recently then I see it as a more impressive accomplishment.

Let's say that I look at these numbers and see a rapidly rising market position with no indication of a top yet, while you're apparently looking at them and seeing a modest total market position as of today.

A different perspective ....
