Great question...

Right now, we don't have the right to take it without negotiating for it...

The reason Greenland is important to the United States is that it's a key strategic and military location for the U.S. and would provide us with a location for military personnel and supplies without the authorization of any foreign interests that could stand in our way...

While we already have a military base in Greenland, we could still be asked to leave at any time...

On the other hand, if we owned Greenland then no one could ask us to leave if that eventuality ever actually occurred...

Excellent question!!!
