I've been using Ledger Nano S since 2017. I did not upgrade to the Nano X and see no need to do so. The S is still available on eBay and I recently bought a couple of NIB units for about $30 total. They might not be as friendly as newer ones but as long as you don't give your passphrases to scammers, they are IMHO very secure, although I would recommend setting up a 25th word passphrase for extra security, in case your 24 words are somehow compromised.
