I mentioned to a friend in 1998 that I had bought AAPL.

He was a PC guy, and said he thought it was a good idea to buy stock in the company that made the computer you're using.

In his case, it was Gateway.

I'll give him a call and tell him my AAPL is up 1000X, and ask how his Gateway stock is doing.
