I have have some views now on how this discussion between Bannon and Musk came about.
Musk is an Engineer, just a normal engineer, that is becoming apparent from what he said and done. He is in a position of influence and power, partly because of his starting position in life, and also to a lot of hard work and determination. He is a big time executive now of course, and depends on support from all the highly talented people who work in the companies he controls.
I had the privilege of working alongside some really talented and capable engineers, and some equally talented and capable executives. Most of the guys who work for Musk can flit to another company in the blink of an eye, and probably get more money in the process. Therefore Musk has to visibly demonstrate he "looks after his guys", that he appreciates them and protects them from any outside forces that make their lives less happy in any way. A lot of his guys in technical positions will either be H1B's, or Green Card Holders who came through the H1B process. A lot of their friends and colleagues will be on H1B's and that counts bigtime.
So Musk has no choice but to go "All In" on protecting H1B's and be seen to have done so. To gain the trust and respect of the community , my advice would be he needs to project a more refined and steady executive image . He could improve on the language he uses for a start. Less of the emotional stuff and especially the swear words.
Bannon, on the other hand, has an equally important task to perform. His criticisms of the H1B process are correct and American citizens are being disadvantaged. He represents the rank and file of the MAGA's and that will include a lot of technical people. They equally cannot be let down.
So opponents of the Trump regime are overjoyed at this calamity and are making a big noise about it.
They are plain wrong imho. It's an opportunity sort all this bs out. There might be some cut and trust in the arguments, but both Musk and Bannon are big enough for it.
Bannon acknowledges Musk has bought a place at the table, and that Musk brings in lots of resources. Sure sparks will fly, but no need to have a cow about it.
