I doubt he was actually intending to bomb the hotel.
Just because he didn't go full Timothy McVeigh doesn't mean he didn't try.

Seven people were injured as a result of that bombing, by the way. The blast was big enough to cause harm.

Plus the guy shot himself before the explosion, so there was no way for him to wait for the coast to be clear.

Crazy is as crazy does.

Besides, if he were a registered Democrat, I'm sure his motives would be plain and obvious to you, just like the motives of Mr. ISIS in New Orleans.
