The Irish are particular and proud of their nationality. Notice the number who did speak "Gaelic" as that is part of their school education.
I travelled around Ireland as a teenager, been back a few times. One thing I noticed is they sing like the Welsh in Southern regions like Cork, but the accent becomes harsher, more like Scots accent gradually from South to North.
So the immigration problem (which is worse then in the UK) puzzled me a bit. The Covid problems too, but so did Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. All those Commonwealth countries keeled over to harsh Covid regimes surprisingly easy, as did Ireland. Ireland is part of Europe of course.
Still a bit confused, but I put it all down to plain 'ol corruption, especially in Ireland. Bought and paid for Politicians. I am not "anti Europe". I know a lot of Europeans think along the same line I do as well. There are issues, and they need to be fully understood.
A lot of this diversity bs has been heavily supported by women btw. Think HR departments. That fact does not escape me. Sometimes it's best you say your bit, and if it isn't listened too, best leave it that.
All of those countries though, can kick up big if they decide to.
I live north of Hadrian's Wall these days. It suits me.
I like the Scots, as much as the Irish. There was a good reason why the Romans and Hadrian built that wall -g-
