Democrats tried to block Bush’s electoral vote in 2001. In 2005, a Democrat tried to challenge the electoral vote count in Congress. In 2017, House Democrats tried to object to electoral votes from multiple states, with then Vice President Joe Biden certifying the election. In 2001, Democratic California Rep. Maxine Watters tried to challenge the results but she was denied by then Vice President Al Gore.
